۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
