۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
