۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
