۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Then, are we not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
