۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Are we not then to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
