۞ When the son of Mary was mentioned as an example, you people cried out in protest, saying, 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth. 60 It is the knowledge of the Hour. Have no doubt concerning it, and follow me. This is a Straight Path, 61 And do not ever let the devil stop you; he is indeed your open enemy. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. 67
