۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
