۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
