۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
