And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 And surely they used to say: 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
