And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 182
