And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
