So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 What, would they then say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
