S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
