S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 "Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?" Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Quran)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment! 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
