He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
