S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many did We destroy before them of the generations, then they cried while the time of escaping had passed away. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
