We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 Recall what time there were presented unto him, at eventide, coursers swift-footed. 31 Therefore Sulaiman said, “I cherish the love of these horses*, out of remembrance of my Lord”; he then ordered them to be raced until they vanished in a curtain out of sight. (To be used in holy war.) 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
