The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
