And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire! 27 Shall We make those who believe and do good deeds equal to those who spread turmoil in the earth? Or shall We equate the pious with the disobedient? 28 (It is) a Book We have revealed to you abounding in good that they may ponder over its verses, and that those endowed with understanding may be mindful. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 When well-bred horses, which were fleet of foot were paraded before him near the close of day, 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 and others that were bound with chains. 38 This is Our free gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
