The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
