The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
