And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 "Go swiftly to the spring," (We said). "This cold water is for bathing and for drinking." 42 We gave him back his family and doubled their number as a blessing from Us and as a reminder to the people of understanding. 43 And take in thine hand a handful of twigs, and strike therewith, and break not thine oath. Verily We! We found him patient. How excellent a bondman! Verily he was oft-returning. 44 (Muhammad), recall Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all of whom possessed virtuous hands and clear visions. 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 and, in Our sight they were indeed among the select, the truly good! 47 And remember Isma'il and Al-Yas'a and Zul-kifl; all of the excellent ones. 48 This is an admonition, and verily for the God-fearing is a happy retreat: 49 Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, 50 Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; 51 ۞ and with them maidens restraining their glances of equal age. 52 This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account. 53 this is Our unending provision' 54 This [is so]. But indeed, for the transgressors is an evil place of return - 55 They will suffer in hell. What a terrible dwelling! 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 and other torments of the like kind coupled together. 58 Here is a multitude rushing headlong with you. There is no welcome for them. They will roast in the fire. 59 (The followers of the misleaders will say): "Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you (misleaders) who brought this upon us (because you misled us in the world), so evil is this place to stay in!" 60 They shall say: Our Lord! whoever prepared it first for us, add Thou to him a double chastisement in the fire. 61 And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones? 62 Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?” 63 All this is certainly true -- the inhabitants of the Fire will blame one another in this way. 64
