Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim: 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
