Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay Zakah, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
