And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, but dispute arose therein. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, (the torment would have overtaken them) and the matter would have been settled between them. But truly, they are in grave doubt thereto (i.e. about the Quran). [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 15, Page 370] 45 Whoso does righteousness, it is to his own gain, and whoso does evil, it is to his own loss. Thy Lord wrongs not His servants. 46 ۞ Unto Him is remitted the knowledge of the Hour. And not a fruit cometh forth from the knops thereof; neither doth a female bear or bring forth but with His knowledge. And on the Day whereon He will call unto them: where are my associates? they will say: we protest unto Thee, none of us is a witness thereof. 47 And away from them shall go what they called upon before, and they shall know for certain that there is no escape for them. 48 Man never tires of asking for the good things of life; but if evil fortune befalls him, he abandons all hope, giving himself up to despair. 49 And, surely, if We cause him to taste mercy from Us after affliction hath touched him, he is sure to say: this is my own, and I deem not that the Hour will ever arise, and were I to be brought back to my Lord, verily there will be for me, with Him, an excellent condition. But We shall surely declare unto those who disbelieve that which they have worked, and We shall surely make them taste a torment rough. 50 And when We favour man, he turns away and goes back afar; and when some hardship reaches him, he comes with a vast prayer! 51 Say: Tell me if it is from Allah; then you disbelieve in it, who is in greater error than he who is in a prolonged opposition? 52 We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and in themselves, till it is clear to them that it is the truth. Suffices it not as to thy Lord, that He is witness over everything? 53 Verily! They are in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? (i.e. Resurrection after their deaths, and their return to their Lord). Verily! He it is Who is surrounding all things! 54
