Now whatever calamity may befall you [on Judgment Day] will be an outcome of what your own hands have wrought, although He pardons much; 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 And those who defend themselves when they are wronged. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
