And whatsoever of affliction befalleth you is owing to that which your hands have earned; and He pardoneth much. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 If He wills, He can calm the winds so the ships remain still on the sea surface; indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive, 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
