Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Clear Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
