Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
