Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HA MIM. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples, 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 AND YET, they attribute to Him offspring from among some of the beings created by Him! Verily, most obviously bereft of all gratitude is man! 15
