Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people, "I disown utterly that which you worship. 26 Other than Him who created me. He will show me the right way." 27 And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return. 28 Nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth). 29 When the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic and we have no faith in it". 30 And they say: If only this Qur'an had been revealed to some great man of the two towns? 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend. 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
