And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 Hold thou fast wherefore to that which is revealed unto thee: verily thou art on the straight path. 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
