And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 (It will be said to them) “And you will not benefit from them this day, whereas you are unjust for you are all partners in the punishment.” 39 Can you (O Muhammad SAW) make the deaf to hear, or can you guide the blind or him who is in manifest error? 40 We shall punish them whether We take you away, 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 Therefore hold fast to what We have divinely revealed to you; indeed you are upon the Straight Path. (The Holy Prophets can never go astray). 43 And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned. 44 And ask them did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
