۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 And say: "Are our aliha (gods) better or is he ['Iesa (Jesus)]?" They quoted not the above example except for argument. Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people. [(See VV. 21:97-101) - The Quran.] 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But factions from among those [who came after Jesus] began to hold divergent views: woe, then, unto those who are bent on evildoing - [woe] for the suffering [that will befall them] on a grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 The intimate friends on that Day will be hostile unto one another save the God-fearing. 67
