Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book. 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 on that night every wise decree is specified 4 by Our own command -- We have been sending messages, 5 A Mercy from your Lord, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. 7 There is no god other than He, who gives you life and death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 8 Yet they are in doubt, playing. 9 So you await the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. – 10 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 But they turned away from him, and said: "He is well-instructed, (but) possessed." 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish. 16 ۞ We tried the people of Pharaoh before them: a noble messenger was sent to them, 17 "Give in unto me, O God's bondmen! You will be pursued. 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And goodly things wherein they rejoiced; 27 As such (it was).
