And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
