Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
