Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Yet these say: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
