Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 This Book is revealed from God, the Majestic and All-wise. 2 Verily in the heavens and the earth, are Signs for those who believe. 3 And in the creation of yourselves and the fact that animals are scattered (through the earth), are Signs for those of assured Faith. 4 And in the alternation of night and day, and in the means of sustenance – water – which Allah sends down from the sky whereby He gave life to the earth after its death, and in the movement of the winds – (in all these) are signs for people of intellect. 5 These are the verses of Allah which We recite to you with the truth; so forsaking Allah and His signs, what will they believe in? 6 Ruin is for every great slanderer, excessive sinner. 7 He hears the Signs of Allah rehearsed to him, yet is obstinate and lofty, as if he had not heard them: then announce to him a Penalty Grievous! 8 And when he knows anything of Our verses, he takes them in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment. 9 Before them is Hell, and what they had earned will not avail them at all nor what they had taken besides Allah as allies. And they will have a great punishment. 10 This is (true) Guidance and for those who reject the Signs of their Lord, is a grievous Penalty of abomination. 11

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
