Muhammad (Muhammad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
God will bring to naught all the good deeds of those who are bent on denying the truth and bar [others] from the path of God. 1 As for the believers who do good works and believe in what is sent down to Muhammad which is the truth from their Lord He will acquit them of their sins and repair their condition. 2 This is because the unbelievers follow falsehood while the believers follow the truth from their Lord. As such Allah sets forth for people their examples. 3 NOW WHEN you meet [in war] those who are bent on denying the truth, smite their necks until you overcome them fully, and then tighten their bonds; but thereafter [set them free,] either by an act of grace or against ransom, so that the burden of war may be lifted: thus [shall it be]. And [know that] had God so willed, He could indeed punish them [Himself]; but [He wills you to struggle] so as to test you [all] by means of one another. And as for those who are slain in God's cause, never will He let their deeds go to waste: 4 Anon He shall guide them, and shall make good their state. 5 And He will admit them into Paradise – they have been made familiar with it. 6 O you who believe, if you help (in the cause of) God He will surely come to your aid, and firmly plant your feet. 7 But as for the unbelievers, ill chance shall befall them! He will send their works astray. 8 That is because they hated what Allah has sent down, so He annulled their deeds. 9 ۞ So did they not travel in the land to see what sort of fate befell those who preceded them? Allah poured ruin upon them; and for the disbelievers are several like it. 10 That is because Allah is the patron of those who believe, and because the infidels! no patron is theirs. 11
