The Wall (Al-Hujuraat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not put yourselves forward in the presence of [what] God and His Apostle [may have ordained,] but remain conscious of God: for, verily, God is all-hearing, all-knowing! 1 Believers, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loudly to him as you do to one another lest your works should be annulled without your knowledge. 2 Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah - they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and great reward. 3 Verily! Those who call you from behind the dwellings, most of them have no sense. 4 And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 5 O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done. 6 And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah (SAW). If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger SAW) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones, 7 By grace from Allah and as a favor; and Allah is Knowing, Wise. 8 And if two parties of the believers quarrel, make peace between them; but if one of them acts wrongfully towards the other, fight that which acts wrongfully until it returns to Allah's command; then if it returns, make peace between them with justice and act equitably; surely Allah loves those who act equitably. 9 The faithful are surely brothers; so restore friendship among your brothers, and fear God that you may be favoured. 10
