The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
