We created man -- We know the promptings of his soul, and are closer to him than his jugular vein -- 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 each word he utters shall be noted down by a vigilant guardian. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: this is that which thou hast been shunning. 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every soul cometh, along with it a driver and a witness. 21 “You were indeed neglectful of this, so We have removed the veil for you, and your eyesight is sharp this day.” 22 And his comrade shall say, 'This is what I have, made ready.' 23 (The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of Allah)!- 24 [every] withholder of good [and] sinful aggressor [and] fomentor of distrust [between man and man - everyone] 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ His comrade saith: Our Lord! I did not cause him to rebel, but he was (himself) far gone in error. 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
