We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 Not a word he uttereth but there is with him a watcher ready. 18 And the hardship of death came with the truth; “This is what you were escaping from!” 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every soul came, along with a herder and a witness. 21 (And unto the evil-doer it is said): Thou wast in heedlessness of this. Now We have removed from thee thy covering, and piercing is thy sight this day. 22 His companion said: “Here is he who was in my charge.” 23 (And it is said): Do ye twain hurl to hell each rebel ingrate, 24 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions; 25 who has set up another deity beside God: cast him, then, cast him into suffering severe!" 26 ۞ and his associate [Satan] will say, "Lord, I did not make him transgress, he had already gone far astray himself." 27 The Lord will say, "Do not argue in My presence; I had certainly sent you a warning. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
