Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 and the smooth runners 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
