Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load of rain, 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
