AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46
