And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
