Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
